Smiles Again – How ‘Bout You Stop Being So Funny & Say Something Serious

After two mixtapes and two critically acclaimed albums with Mind Over Matter the debut solo offering from Smiles Again has landed in the form of his new EP How About You Stop Being So Funny & Say Something Serious.

One half of Sydney based hip hop duo Mind Over Matter, Smiles, 23, has played shows alongside Willow for the past 5 years. Together the boys have sold out shows nationally and toured extensively as both a headline and major support for artists such as Bliss n Eso, Method Man & Redman, Drapht just to name a few. Solo, Smiles expresses a very different side of himself lyrically. The Serious EP is the sister to its 2011 predecessor How Bout You Stop Being So Serious & Say Something Funny – a 9 track effort which showcased Smiles Again’s more comedic and imaginative side.

How Bout You Stop Being So Funny & Say Something Serious definitely lives up to its name. Smiles touches on personally revealing topics ranging from his year out of high school, his experiences working in a youth refuge, to witnessing his best friend lose himself to drugs to finally having his own problems dwarfed by a close friends brain tumour diagnosis. The release is an emotional journey featuring some of the countries most promising artists including repeat collaborator Jon Reichardt, William Singe and Johnny Utah. Musically the EP features contributions from Rahjconkas, Konfuzion and more.
