It’s been one hell of a ride for Australia’s charismatic rapper Seth Sentry. Releasing his #6 ARIA debut album, This Was Tomorrow completely independently and through his own label High Score Records in September 2012; the following 18 months produced nothing but impressive milestones and achievements for Seth.
From sold out Australian tours, to AIR Award wins, ARIA nominations and not to mention becoming the first Australian rapper to perform on US late night TV when he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Seth has barely had time to stop and take it all in.
Last night before hitting the stage at The Manning Bar in Sydney, he finally had that moment as This Was Tomorrow achieved Gold sales in Australia, selling 35,000 + copies. In recognition Seth and the team were presented with gold plaques, marking an outstanding achievement in Australian independent music.
Of the milestone Seth said, “What the heck? I am completely blown away by this. Thank you so much to everyone involved and of course the lords that actually went out and bought the album.”
Rowan Robinson of No Dice Management added, “We couldn’t have asked for a better run with this record. ‘This Was Tomorrow’ is a true independent release; we had a small budget, a core team and 11 great tracks, and I think this achievement proves that’s all you need sometimes. We want to extend our thanks and congratulations to Seth and the amazing people that helped bring this about”.
Now well and truly absorbed in the recording process for the follow up to This Was Tomorrow, Seth Sentry plans to have a new album ready for release mid way through this year.
Seth Sentry – This Was Tomorrow album featuring the singles Vacation, Dear Science, Float Away, My Scene, and The Waitress Song is available in stores and online through High Score Records.
