Producer LordQuest explains the process behind “Blind Threats” off of ScHoolboy Q’s Oxymoron in his latest video drop. Sampling Gary Burton’s “Las Vegas Tango”, the track is ScHoolboy’s favorite off the album.
“Even when I first started working with him, I thought he only did that hard gangsta stuff, but it was bigger than that. His music has a lot of depth and texture, but a lot of people don’t see it as that. He has feelings and emotions, he has problems, and he has issues just like everyone else.”
The Oxymoron placement was not LordQuest’s first time working with ScHoolboy Q; he also produced “Figg Get Da Money” off of his Setbacks mixtape back in 2011.
Born in Ghana and raised in Toronto, LordQuest is an artist and producer. In 2013 he released his first solo project as an emcee titled Still Shopping. The following year his he gained recognition through his production placements on Talib Kweli’s Gravitas and ScHoolboy Q’s Oxymoron. Currently he’s in the studio working on his debut EP, which will be out late summer.
