A fierce and passionate MC, Speekup has been working tirelessly at his craft for well over a decade. From unreleased demos to countless open mics and battle nights, Speekup has delivered his brand of lyricism straight up raw with a no-nonsense approach.
Speekup has taken the time to develop his own unique and unconventional style yet he rhymes with substance in a way that pays respect to the architects that have come before him. Having spent years waiting in the wings receiving guidance from some of South Australia’s most recognised emcees, Speekup is now poised to take his music to the next level and release his debut EP ‘The Lost City Of Secrets’.
With a focus on creating positive Hip Hop and crafting an engaging live performance Speekup’s work encompasses a dizzying array of topic matter and a genuine love for Hip Hop culture and the human condition. Speekup’s adventurous spirit has seen him write rhymes all over the globe. In 2010 Speekup began visualising a concept for an EP as he travelled from Nepal to Holland and then through to Poland where he worked with producer Amos the Ancient Prophet to create the music for his vision.
Upon returning to Australia Speekup completed the writing for his EP and began recording the songs with long time friend Dr Sacred Sound before connecting with Matchless Gift and DJ Snair of the Butterthief label to complete the project with some added scratching, production and mix engineering. The result is a debut 7 track EP to be released digitally and on CD/vinyl with illustration by Japanese artist IllFill.
