As part of Sydney’s juggernaut One Day crew, Nick Lupi and Jimmy Nice helmed one of 2014’s biggest breakout albums in ‘Mainline’. Side-by-side with Horrorshow, Jackie Onassis and Joyride, the duo – known to the world as Spit Syndicate – earned a #2 ARIA Album Chart debut, scored a radio smash in “Love Me Less” and traversed the country on an enormous national tour.
As fans hungrily await their next fix from the One Day franchise, Spit Syndicate are proud to unleash their all-new single “Real” unto the world in conjunction with One Day Entertainment and Inertia Recordings (Sia, The Delta Riggs).
Produced with dark conviction and plush nuance by Horrorshow’s Adit, “Real” represents new levels of verbal intensity and sonic ambition from the duo; an unrelenting preview of things to come.
“All we’re trying to be is true to who we are and what we stand for,” says Nick Lupi, of the doctrine which underpins the song. “Whether it’s shit going on in your immediate world, what we see on the news, the music people consume, it’s much easier to bury one’s head in the sand and engage with the safer, constructed versions of reality.”
Previously releasing three acclaimed albums on Melbourne’s Obese Records – including 2013’s universally heralded ‘Sunday Gentlemen’ – Spit Syndicate plan to take their catchy, quick-witted and confronting style to new frontiers on their forthcoming album.
“Creatively, we feel we’re at our sharpest point,” says Jimmy Nice. “Less concerned with the sort of music people might expect us to make, more focused on creating work which commands attention.”
Spit Syndicate’s “Real” is available now on all digital services and was released in November of 2014.
