Proving Hilltop Hoods aren’t the only staunch veterans of the thriving Adelaide hip hop community, Soul Elixr have been out there since 1997, notably with Elemental Forces and Headstrong Company, the latter of whom released a record to immense underground success.

Performing with some of the most well-respected heads in the game – Redman, Raekwon, Method Man, M.O.P, Brother Ali, Xzibit, Foreign Beggars, Delta, Staen 1, Percee P and Def Wish Cast to name a few – Soul Elixr this year rectify the glaring omission in their storied back catalogue: releasing Inside Out, a record they made entirely by themselves, for themselves.

Testing the waters with an early single for long-time fans –’Rocksteady’ feat. Full Tote Odds and DJ Snair – Soul Elixr’s new single + clip ‘Rise Up’ are out now. Steeped in classic boom bap, with uplifting gospel refrains, ‘Rise Up’ is an anthem for the peeps still true to hip hop, an inspiring statement from the duo on their history in Australia’s underground and why they’re more determined than ever to keep making the music they love. This time on their own terms.

Soul Elixr’s album Inside Out drops Fri 16 Oct, via MGM/iTunes.
