Groove Therapy radio show celebrates its 15th Anniversary Sydney community broadcasters 2SER FM celebrates 15 years of its weekly Friday afternoon mixshow Groove Therapy this month, which makes it Australia’s longest running weekly dance music mixshow presented by the same host.
Longtime Sydney DJ Shan Frenzie started the Groove Therapy radio show in early 2002. The show is heavily inspired by the classic shows of New York’s golden era of radio (mix-shows of the eighties hosted by legendary New York deejays Tony Humphries, The Latin Rascals, and Kool DJ Red Alert).
Groove Therapy has always been about mixing Hip Hop, Soul, Funk, Disco, House, Beats & Breaks (and everything in between) in a meticulously crafted continuous deejay mix style – heavy with exclusive edits and mastermixes. It’s where old school and new school sounds collide.
Since its inception in 2002, the weekly radio broadcast has become an essential weekly listen to all musically savvy heads, deejays and train spotters in Sydney (and around the world through its podcast).
To celebrate the 15th year anniversary, Shan Frenzie has produced a special master mix episode, featuring some of the heavy weight producers and editors of the scene. Fellow 2SER deejays (and talented producers in their own right) Meem and Paris Groovescooter are joined by Brisbane’s Blunted Stylus ( The Resin Dogs ), Auckland radio presenter DJ Hudge ( George FM ), and Oakland Hip Hop legend DJ Platurn (The 45 Sessions).
Each flex their skills on the editing block with an exclusive prepared fifteen minute megamix, all mini works of highly produced cut & paste art soundscapes (in the style of Steinski, Coldcut, Z Trip, and DJ Shadow).
The Groove Therapy 15th Anniversary Mastermix broadcasts: FRIDAY 22nd SEPTEMBER at 12pm AEDT midday on 107.3 2SER FM Sydney, and streams at http://www.2ser.com, 12pm AEDT (with a digital mixtape of the broadcast available shortly afterwards), Featuring 2SER deejays Shan Frenzie, Meem, and Paris Groovescooter alongside guests, Blunted Stylus (The Resin Dogs, Brisbane), Hudge (George FM, Auckland), and Platurn (The 45 Sessions, Oakland).
