Sydney’s hip-hop powerhouse duo Spit Syndicate have announced their fifth studio album ORBIT, to be released on Friday, 11th May 2018 via One Day Entertainment. Barely a year since they released the critically-acclaimed ONE GOOD SHIRT HAD US ALL FLY, Spit Syndicate return with ORBIT, their most progressive work yet, featuring guest appearances by Tuka, Turquoise Prince, imbi the girl and Kai (Jackie Onassis).
Produced entirely by long-term collaborators Adit (Horrorshow) and Jono Graham (Left.), ORBIT is Spit Syndicate’s most forward-thinking record yet. To celebrate, the duo will be embarking on a huge 20-date national tour, kicking off on May 19 at Darwin’s Bass In The Grass. Spit Syndicate will be hosting their trademark One Day-style block parties in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, to serve as a warm-up for what promises to be their most explosive live show yet.
“Our approach to making this album was like a mixtape; we weren’t thinking about singles, radio or even how we’d be releasing the music. That allowed us to be weightless, almost childlike in our approach. We arrived back at the essence of why we started creating songs, for that reason this album is our best yet.” – Jimmy
“We felt the immediacy was missing from the way we’d make and release music, so we jumped straight into this album with a promise to go harder than we’ve ever gone before. Orbit is, without question, our best work yet and it’s the most fun we’ve ever had making a record.” – Lupi
To mark the announcement of the biggest album and tour of their career, Spit Syndicate have also unveiled the latest track from ORBIT “Contraband & Conversation”, featuring rising star imbi the girl and fellow One Dayer Kai from Jackie Onassis. “Contraband & Conversation” is an ode to the unique comfort found in late night conversation with the people you love, sometimes doing things you’re not meant to be doing.
The duo opened up the 2018 account with the hard-hitting singles “Errands” and “Fuck It” which have resonated strongly with the group’s highly engaged fanbase and have been added to Spotify’s ‘New Music Friday’ and ‘All Aussie Hip-Hop’ playlists, plus Apple Music’s ‘Best Of The Week’ playlist.
ORBIT will be released on May 11 but you can pre-order it right now!
