Briggs – The Wrong Brother

From the moment Briggs dropped his self-released debut EP, the brilliant and groundbreaking Homemade Bombs (2009), it was obvious to everyone that this marked the arrival of a powerful and unique voice on the scene. Powered by a rapid-fire, melodic, direct approach, Briggs was as funny as he was deep. It was this rare combination of characteristics that lead to him being embraced by some of the wiser and more experienced heads in the local scene. Level Headed – The Spice Of Life

Last night in the Riverland of South Australia, Level Headed lauched his first solo album, The Spice Of Life. Since leaving the group Train Of Thought in 2005, moving to teach physical education at Glossop High School, ensured that no music would be made for a while. The only rhymes that were spat over the next year or so were battles while on lunchtime yard duty with students, and a track made with a year ten student. Due to their common interest in education, Level Headed had a strong connection with Melbourne MC Reason. He appeared on his 2006 album … Continue reading Level Headed – The Spice Of Life

He has recently released his debut EP Homemade Bombs with the assistance from Jaytee (Hazard Productions), 76 (Stronghorn Studios) and Trials (Funkoars) to much acclaim. Having completed The Hangover tour with the Funkoars, performing tracks from Homemade Bombs, he’s already back in the … Continue reading BRIGGS – The Gospel According To Briggs

STATE OF THE ART – Album preview

Hosting their own little party at Sydney’s 301 Studios, MCs Suffa, Pressure and DJ Debris sampled select tracks from the new record to a small contingent of eager music types. “Some of our closest friends haven’t even heard this stuff yet,” a slightly awkward Suffa told the crowd with a smile. Three years in the making, State of the Art is the follow-up to the Hoods’ #1 album The Hard Road and their first in a new deal between their label Golden Era and Universal Records. They kicked off the sneak peek with album opener The Return, an angry scratch-heavy … Continue reading STATE OF THE ART – Album preview
