Sonnyjim – The Psychonaut LP

To Whom It May Concern:  I am writing to you on behalf of my client Sonnyjim, to inform you of his recent discontent at the bastardized image of hip-hop music portrayed and traded by popular culture. Gun toting, money fetishizing and the constant oppression of the proverbial “ho” reign supreme as rap’s status quo, and real underground hip-hop is seen as “whatever”. My client, Sonnyjim, is entirely repulsed that such a widely appreciated and intelligently honed form of “street-music” is constantly overlooked by the media in favour of the flavour of the month. In order to adequately resolve this situation, … Continue reading Sonnyjim – The Psychonaut LP

Bigfoot Interview – Giant Steps: Imbeciles, Inoffensive Smooth Talking & Emo-Rhymers

aahh: After years and years of waiting, we’ve finally copped the debut LP from “giant” of the scene Bigfoot. Why has it taken so long for us all to see a full length Bigfoot solo album? Bigfoot: I spent a lot of time working on music for other people, doing shows, moving house a whole lot of times, paying bills & laying on my back in hospital.  I’ve never had somewhere stable to record everything, as evidenced by the number of different studios “Giant Steps” was recorded in, so I could never complete tracks to my satisfaction until recently.  I … Continue reading Bigfoot Interview – Giant Steps: Imbeciles, Inoffensive Smooth Talking & Emo-Rhymers

Wolverine – Street Music

Scott Kent, also known as rapper Wolverine, adopted the persona of the famous Marvel comic creation, full of rage and the unbreakable metal adamantium, long before Hugh Jackman brought the character to movie screens. And while Jackman honed his craft at the prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Kent also spent years honing his in Perth, except he did it in cyphers, studios and live shows around the city. With the release of his 3rd solo album, Street Music, players nationwide are soon going to need adamantium speakers. Any notions that Wolverine is just another rapper who has thrown … Continue reading Wolverine – Street Music
